I'm So Cold

Hanzo stared at the messages, feeling his blood boil. Not just the content of the messages, but who was sending them.

Kuai had been dead for over a year now.

[Hanzo said: Whoever this is, this is not funny and I suggest you stop.]
[Kuai Liang said: help me]
[Kuai Liang said: im so cold]

Hanzo felt bile in the back of his throat. This was beyond sick. Harumi’s death had haunted him enough, but Kuai’s had practically broken him. Images of those bed sheets stained red as Kuai lay lifeless. There was nothing he could have done to save Kuai, by the time Hanzo had got home, his body was already cold.

Hanzo had his suspicion on who was responsible, but there was never any evidence.

He suspected the same person was now responsible for taunting him.

[Hanzo said: Sektor I swear to god it’s bad enough you took him from me, what is wrong with your sick mind to torment me like this?]

Hanzo’s hand clenched so hard he almost broke his phone screen.

[Hanzo said: Stop this before I call the police.]
[Kuai Liang said: hanzo]
[Kuai Liang said: i love you hanzo]
[Kuai Liang said: please help me]
[Kuai Liang said: im so cold]
[Kuai Liang said: i wanted to go to tokyo with you]

That last sentence made Hanzo pause. They had made plans to go to Tokyo, Hanzo was so close to saving up for the tickets right before Kuai’s death. They had never told anyone about the plans. They’d decided they wouldn’t mention it until they’d actually secured their journey and accommodation. No one except Hanzo and Kuai knew about it.

[Hanzo said: Kuai Liang?]
[Kuai Liang said: hanzo]
[Kuai Liang said: please help me]
[Kuai Liang said: im so cold]

He kept saying that. Hanzo guessed being cold was related to being dead. But how exactly did Kuai want him to help? He scrolled back up to the reaction to Sektor’s name, and his stomach dropped.

[Hanzo said: Did Sektor do this to you?]
[Kuai Liang said: sektor]
[Kuai Liang said: please stop]

[Hanzo said: I want to help you, Kuai Liang, please tell me what he did to you.]
[Kuai Liang said: cut me to pieces]
[Kuai Liang said: it hurts]
[Kuai Liang said: it hurts]
[Kuai Liang said: i love you hanzo]

Hanzo suddenly realised his cheeks were wet, tears welling in his eyes and rolling down between blinks. This wasn’t evidence he could use in court, but it did confirm what he’d thought all along.

Sektor had murdered Kuai Liang.

[Hanzo said: I love you too, Kuai Liang.]
[Hanzo said: I won’t rest until justice had been served.]
[Kuai Liang said: i love you hanzo]
[Kuai Liang said: save me please]
[Hanzo said: I will.]

“I will,” Hanzo repeated out loud, reaching a hand to wipe his eyes and taking a deep breath. He had a lot of work to do.
