Backstory

If you asked Dottie about her childhood, she would say she grew up poor but happy. Her single mother, Kalysta, did her best to raise her 4 children. Dottie's father walked out when she was 3, right after the birth of her younger brother, Flan. Dottie doesn't talk about her father, as far as she is concerned, she does not have one.

Dottie learnt to cook and bake from her mother. Their time together in the kitchen are some of Dottie's fondest memories. When Dottie was 18, her mother passed away Unexpectedly, and it hit her hard. She spent a long time in a very dark place, and only got out thanks to the support of her siblings and her best friend Brittany. Dottie realised her mother wouldn't want her to wallow in self pity, and so made a vow to herself that no matter what she went through in life, she'd never stop being optimistic about the future.

While she currently works as a baker, and she enjoys it very much, she has dreams of becoming a musician. She's currently working towards that goal, hoping eventually she'll be able to give her family the life she thinks they deserve.

Relationships

Kalysta Neville ➥ Mother.
Dottie was very close with her mother, with her being the woman who taught her to always look on the bright side of life. Dottie's memories of them cooking are her dearest memories. Her death devistated Dottie, and it took a long time for her to find the strength to let go. Now, everything she does, she does in honour of Kalysta.

Faye Neville ➥ Sister.
When they were younger, Dottie found it very difficult to connect with Faye, mostly due to their 10 year age gap. Faye always seemed aloof and unbothered by her younger siblings. When their mother died, Dottie found Faye to be one of her main supports, seeing a completely different side to her sister, and realising how much Faye has protected her over the years. Now, they're pretty much best friends, although Dottie does wish Faye would get along better with Lyall.

Lyall Neville ➥ Brother.
Growing up, Lyall was always Dottie's favourite sibling. He was the one who played with her and he kept a eye on her. After their mother's death, Dottie noticed a change in Lyall, one that she didn't particularly like. He just seemed to get more self-righteous and sometimes talking to him felt more like being lectured. She still loves him, and he has chilled out a little in the years since, but she can't help but miss the brother she used to have.

Flannery Neville ➥ Brother.
For most of their life, Flan was always the annoying younger sibling to Dottie. She admits that while she wasn't cruel to him, she was a bit dismissive. Flan was 15 when their mother died, and was hit hard as a result as well. Dottie found solace in taking care of him and as a result, they began to get closer. At 18, Flan is about to go to university now and asked Dottie to help him learn how to cook. Their cooking sessions remind Dottie a lot of the ones she used to have with her mother, and she loves the time she spends with Flan as a result.

Brittany Germanotta ➥ Best Friend/Co-Worker.
Brit has been Dottie's best friend since they were in reception year of school. Despite their styles splitting off and becoming very different, they still managed to stay friends, finding that they bounced off each other really well. While their main activity together is baking, Dottie does share Brittany's interest in social justice, all be it Dottie's veiw is a little more on the optimistic side. They work together at the bakery, and often find themselves bitching about rude customers together.

Babette Irvin ➥ Friend.
Babs started as a regular customer of the bakery. Dottie began to grow closer to her after an indicent where Babs stood up for Dottie and Brit against a particularly rude customer. They sometimes meet up outside of work, usually just to have a coffee and gossip together.

Boniface Irvin ➥ Friend.
Being Babs elder brother, Dottie met him when he accompanied Babs to one of the girls meets they have. Being that they're both musicians and play guitar, they hit it off instantly. They hang out a lot and have jam sessions, and Boni has even helped Dottie get a few gigs here and there.

Alternate Universe

Fantasy ➥
Dottie grew up learning potions from her mother, and grew to love mixing them in with baked goods. Her elder sister, Faye, brought Dottie her first guitar when she was 12, and on that day Dottie discovered she had latent magical abilities. Now she works as a travelling bard, offering her services to anyone who may need them.

Cyberpunk ➥
Despite music having been illegal for hunderds of years, Dottie's mother still taught her about the joys of it. Her mother's death hit her hard, especially after discovering it was part of a conspiracy being covered up by the government. Along with her sibling and best friend, they set up an underground resistant group to get to the bottom of the corruption of the world. Despite everything, she's still optimistic for the future, and performs underground concerts to spread the joy of music to others.

Mortal Kombat ➥
When Dottie was a child, her mother always told her stories of Mortal Kombat and the realms. She always believed them to be fairytales, until the Netherrealm War happened and she discovered things were all too real. Curious of what her mother's role in everything was, and how she knew of such things, Dottie joined Special Forces as a researcher. She has no idea what secret's her mother was keeping, but she hopes to find out soon.
